TFKable Group at CIM 2018 Convention & EXPO
From the 6th to the 9th of May 2018 in Vancouver, British Columbia the CIM 2018 Convention and EXPO will take place. It is a yearly event devoted to the mining industry in Canada. This year’s convention will provide an opportunity to become acquainted with a wider scope of thematic areas, starting with innovative project management concepts in the mining industry, and ending with currently applied innovative solutions within the framework of projects undertaken, presented as case studies, as well as further growth prospects for the industry. Each of the above issues has been divided into 12 different discussion panels, the objective of which is turning the attention of participants to the most immediate challenges, best practices and proven innovations. TFKable Group, which has been successfully carrying out delivery of specialized cable systems to the Canadian market via the TFCA Company (Tele-Fonika Cable Americas) for about 12 years now, will have for the very first time, an opportunity to present its line of products dedicated to the mining sector at a trade fair event in Canada.
Similar to EXPOMIN Chile fair taking place in April 2018, TELE-FONIKA Cable Americas belonging to the TFKable Group is going to present its innovative line of reflective mining cables with polyurethane jackets. This group of specialized cables recently added to the product offering was designed with the aim of increasing work safety in difficult operating conditions. The main objective of the innovation developed by the TFKable Group was obtaining the effect of higher visibility of mining cables in underground mine galleries or during night-time works in surface mines. The increased visibility enables minimising the risk of mechanical damage, to which the cables are exposed when supplying power to mining machines. As a result of moving cables directly on the ground, which in case of poor visibility often results in their breakage or damage and translates directly to reduced safety of workers or increased operating costs due to stoppages.
The key to achieve success in implementing that innovative solution was to effectively combine polyurethane, characterised by very high mechanical strength parameters, with the reflective materials applied, which enables obtaining a new type of coating for mining cables.
“The reflective cables of the TELE-FONIKA Kable brand ensure long and safe operation thanks to combination of key characteristics of the polyurethane outer sheaths applied in them, that is, very high resistance to mechanical damage, and the increased cable visibility provided by the reflective effect. As a result, the line of reflective mining cables is characterised by 5 times higher resistance to abrasion, 2 times higher tensile strength, 2 times higher resistance to tearing and up to 8% lower weight of the external outer sheaths in comparison to rubber cables. The resulting product increases safety and reduces the costs of excavation thanks to its higher resistance to mechanical damage and, in consequence, longer lifetime,” underlines Paweł Staszewski, Sales Director - Mining, Industry, Oil&Gas
CIM 2018 Convention & EXPO in Vancouver is an international mining industry event that is going to have close to 5000 participants, 340 speakers within the framework of the discussion panels planned, and about 450 exhibitors from 40 countries. As done in previous years, next to the substantive parts, on the second day there will be a festive CIM Awards Gala, providing an excellent opportunity to honour the winners within individual categories of CIM Awards 2018.
