Moray East Offshore windfarm FINAL APPROVED

Moray East Offshore windfarm FINAL APPROVED

The TFKable Group’s successful partnership with VolkerInfra continues to grow with the announcement that its production plant in Bydgoszcz will provide 220 kV onshore high voltage cable for the Moray East Offshore windfarm, Scotland.
Production will start at the Group’s specialist HV production plant in Bydgoszcz during Q1 2019. This large-scale undertaking will require highly coordinated programme delivery and best in class installation. All of the cable will be produced and tested on site in Bydgoszcz and delivered to the Scottish coast through an innovative drum rotation system which will see a total of 270 drums delivered throughout the first three quarters of 2019. VolkerInfra will carry out the installation works connecting the wind farm to the National Grid at a new substation being built at New Deer in Aberdeenshire.
This is the second 220 kV project delivered to VolkerInfra for Siemens Transmission by TFKable Group with whom they have been successfully working with for over 10 years.TFKable sees VolkerInfra as a long-term business partner and sees the Moray Firth East project as a testament to its ability to deliver the market leading levels of manufacture and customer service demanded by our clients.
- "The effects of our cooperation have already been appreciated, nevertheless I am pleased that the next demanding undertaking is ahead of us. We are especially confident in the ability of our own work results, i.e. the supply of high-quality cables at the Bydgoszcz production plant and our outstanding competence in engineering and installation works.”, underlines Wojtek Skoczylas, Sales Director at TFKable Group
Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Limited consortium is owned by EDPR (43.3%), Diamond Green Limited, which is partly owned by DGE (33.4%) and ENGIE (23.3%). The project, scheduled to be completed in 2022, has received a 15-year Contract for Difference with a record low strike price of GBP 57.5/MWh. It will provide an abundant supply of low-carbon electricity and represents a step-change in the delivery of renewable power in terms of cost and scale because this wind farm will use the UK’s own indigenous renewable natural resource of wind. Moray East will be capable of providing power for the average annual requirements of in excess of 950,000 UK homes.
- “We had no doubts that TFKable Group is a trusted and dedicated partner for this project. Therefore, from the perspective of the experience of cooperation, I am sure that the stages will be implemented as planned. The long-term partnership with Siemens is also a great comfort, "concludes Peter Cooke, Technical Development Director, VolkerInfra.
Consent for the Moray Firth East Offshore windfarm construction of up to 1,116MW was granted in 2016 with CfD for 950MW awarded in 2017.
