Turnkey project in Dresden

TFKable receives turnkey project in Dresden, the capital of Saxony

TFKable, the global manufacturer of wires and cables, received a cable project order from SachsenEnergie AG. It involves the delivery and installation of 12.5 km of 110 kV XLPE cables of the latest design with integrated fiber optic cables and high-voltage cable fittings.
The starting point is at the Dresden Neustadt substation. The route then winds through the city in eight sections and a total length of approx. 4.2 km to the connection point in the Mickten district.
To ensure efficient utilization of the cables, they will be installed using a technically sophisticated technique known as cross-bonding.
The term cross-bonding refers to the physical crossing of the cable shields in the joint pit.
The main advantage of this design is the significant reduction of losses in the cable shield. This in turn results in optimum utilization of the cable cross-section used for the maximum possible transmission performance of this cable connection.
The project is one of the stages in the modernization of the energy infrastructure of Dresden and the region, the main objective of which is to increase the security of energy supply, both for individual residents and for the companies located there.

Sławomir Dybczak, Sales Director at TELE-FONIKA Kable add: “We are pleased to be able to supply high-voltage cables to the city of Dresden for the second time. Turnkey projects in the city area in particular require intensive coordination and partnership between contractors, clients and the public institutions involved. As we have already laid more than 100 km of high-voltage cables in Germany on a turnkey basis, we have sufficient resources and experience to provide our customers with proper and effective solutions for their applications.”

The cables are manufactured at TFKable's state-of-the-art production facility in Bydgoszcz, Poland. On the implementation side, TELE-FONIKA Kable Central Europe GmbH of Hilden, Germany, will be responsible for delivery, installation of the cable system and project management.

The implementation date is planned for the summer of 2022.
